FANS - Robby (Miami, USA)

Good evening from rainy Oviedo...

Today, I have the pleasue of posting this interesting story, that happen to my good friend Robby from Miami when he had the pleasure to meet the Stray Cats and even have lunch with them!

Robby recalls:

Memorial Day, May 25th - "Penrod's Bash" on the beach in South Beach, Miami 1992. A week earlier a rock station announced that the band Kings X are dropping of the bill and the Stray Cats would replace them. When I heard that I had to make my move!!! So finally the day came and I headed to the beach early in the morning. Arriving there I started talking to people about going backstage, my luck, nobody even looked at me. So I went to the bar close to the stage disappointed as hell.

This big guy (roadie) sat next to me. He looked friendly so I asked him:
- "Are you working backstage?"
- He says: "yeeeep, why?"
- "cause I really wanna go back there" - I replied.
- He says: "OK, let's see what I can do".

I had $300 in my pocket I was willing to spend. So Ax comes back with a smile on his face, and tells me follow him, we went in the restaurant and tells me:

- "OK, I got this backstage pass, it will get you every where, anywhere all the tour busses etc..."
- "OK, how much?

He says $20.- DEAL I say!!!!!!

Now I'm back there waiting for the Cats. finally, they arrive and run into the building. I saw Lee, but he didn't want to talk. He was pissed for a personal reason. I was waiting outside the building like a kid in a candy store. The security outside told me:

- "You have an all access pass, why don't you go inside and enjoy yourself?"

So I walk inside the building, security let's me in this huge room, there I saw Jim and Brian at the buffet. I went there and introduced myself to both of them. Immediately we clicked and had lunch together. We talked about "Choo Choo Hot Fish" and more. Man, it was a dream come true!!! I also told them that I knew the French fan club president; Jim told Brian that and now Brian was excited.

Jim says to me:
"Why won't you come on stage with us and shoot some pictures for the club?"

I got dizzy, I though I didn't hear right, Moi on stage with the Cats????? Sure I said!!! So the time came and we all went on stage, it was an extremely hot day that day and the Cats Rocked My Town that day. After the show I thanked Brian, Jim and Lee for the amazing afternoon. They went in their limo and drove off! I had the pleasure to meet Brian in Paris that same year again with my best friend Jean-Louis!
